Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) is the gold standard for comparing the environmental impacts of materials.
At PIPA, we’re driving sustainability by promoting responsible use of plastic pipes. We commissioned two independent LCAs comparing plastic pipes (PE, PP, PVC-M, PVC-O) with traditional materials like steel-reinforced concrete and ductile iron—using verified EPDs based on Australian conditions in drainage and infrastructure applications.
The results highlight strong sustainability benefits of plastic pipes, particularly in lowering embodied carbon and water use, providing trusted data to support smarter infrastructure choices.
