PIPA supporting Operation Clean Sweep – Nurdle Hunt 2023

From Plane Spotters Beach in Botany, Sydney to Westgate Park on the Yarra River in Melbourne #nurdles – or more importantly strategies on how to reduce the loss of nurdles (aka plastic resin pellets and other plastic feedstock) – were the focus of these engagement events.

More than 100 plastics industry members were joined by the Victorian EPA and the NSW EPA along with local community members to discuss challenges and solutions to the loss of plastic feedstock from the plastics value chain.

In addition to the Nurdle Hunt the teams also removed more 120kg of litter items!

Engagement activities like this are critical to have industry, government and community discuss the issue of plastic feedstock loss, practical solutions – both at the factory sites and through government regulation – and how collaboratively we can all support best practice, stewardship and ensuring day to day business operations have the lightest footprint.

A big thank you to PIPA members who participated alongside other plastic industry members, EPA Officers and community partners.
