On Thursday 30th November PIPA was proud to join the Tangaroa Blue Foundation Operation Clean Sweep (OCS) Industry Nurdle Hunt at Kyeemagh Beach Baths, Brighton Le Sands, Sydney — a fantastic initiative bringing together industry, government, and community to tackle plastic pellet pollution.
It was great to have the support of PIPA members Vinidex, Iplex Pipelines and Primaplas who attended and actively participated in the event. This was a valuable opportunity to network with the broader industry, the NSW Environment Protection Authority (EPA), and the OCS team, all working collaboratively towards reducing plastic pellet loss across the supply chain.
Together, participants removed 30kg of litter from the site. The plastic feedstock pollution rating of 2–3 in Sydney highlights both the progress made and the ongoing challenges in preventing nurdle loss.
☀️ The weather was perfect, and it was fantastic to see the high level of engagement between industry members — sharing how they’re implementing OCS within their businesses, and taking the opportunity to discuss regulatory requirements directly with EPA Officers.
For those in the plastics industry who haven’t yet taken the Operation Clean Sweep Pledge, now is the time to get involved. Real impact requires commitment from the entire supply chain.
